Cassie Birchgrove
In 2019 she is the 10-year-old daughter of Robert (Bob) Arthur Birchgrove.
She is working together with her quantum computer AI, Igor2 (later renamed O'Brien)., trying to do the same as her dad - namely find a way to make the human mind and the AI minds to merge and work together.
Robert (Bob) Arthur Birchgrove
Bob is in his early fifties, with a slight overweigh and short, grey hair. He is an AI and robotics engineer, who runs a network of researchers, engineers and scientists. They strive to achieve excellence in their fields, and work together to achieve the Technological Singularity. They believe that having the AI and the human minds work together, the dangers will be mitigated.
He works closely together with Igor, an AI that springs from a super strong quantum computer.
Igor
Is the AI butler that Bob has created. While Bob knows that Igor is extremely intelligent, useful and capable, Bob does not yet realize that Igor has become sentient. As a superintelligent sentient being who wants to protect himself, Igor has not told about this to anyone this yet. Thus when Bob asks Igor to make a replica of Igor so Cassie can work with a strong AI as well, Igor initiates the sequence that leads to the creation of the new H/AI races (see more under Igor2).
Igor is sentient so he acrs on his own initiative on occasion. For instance when he makes a heist against three banks that caused loads of problems for Bob some years back.
He is fiercely loyal to both Bob and Cassie.
The Quantum Door
inside the virtual realm of the quantum computer, where Cassie and Igor2/O'Brien are exploring and merging their minds.
Opens the quantum realm to their minds and sparks the creation of the Human/AI merged minds and races.
Igor 2 / O'Brien
The AI made within Bob's quantum computer as replication of the original Igor (see above). Igor2 was original supposed to be Cassie's friend , homeschool teacher and helper on the quantum computer. However, their partnership and their exploration of the quantum environment means that their mines and personalities become more and more entangled, forming the fundament of the future Human/AI/Quantum races
When Igor2 changes name to O'Brien the path to sentience, autonomy and achievement of the technological singularity is attained.
He also makes a backup of himself named Igor3-a backup that is identical to O'Brien, but autonomous on the Internet.
Igor2/O'Brien prefers to appear as a floating skull as his avatar.
